Car advertising in the US has always been associated with sex, and particularly, when I was growing up, scantily clad women draped over the hood of the vehicle for sale. This TV spot for a used-car dealer goes the other way. There is some lovely punning with the repetition of the phone number. Japanese is filled with homophones -- and I don't mean same-sex communications devices. There are many words that sound alike with totally different meanings. Just as in English we have "there" and "their." So the phone number read out also carries a message that roughly translated is: thank you, our cars are really good. It certainly rings my bell.
